Christmas Letter 2015

Merry Christmas from the Reyersons!
Good heavens, what a year!  Don’t know where to begin, but here goes.
If you can believe this, Adrienne is over halfway done with her undergrad work at Eau Claire.  Her major course of study this semester will shift to Behavior Analysis with an emphasis in Psychology, and 3 years of graduate school will follow before she can begin her career as a school psychologist.  She’s renting a house near campus with four other girls, and her trips back to the Twin Cities are less frequent than before, although she and her boyfriend Greg still managed to sneak in a couple of weekends this semester.
Collin hit the pause button on college and is plenty busy making and selling pizzas as he contemplates the next chapter of his life.  He and his girlfriend Mercedes (Cede for short, pronounced “Sadie”) got an apartment closer to us in St. Louis Park, right about the time they adopted a puppy.  “Spyro” is a miniature dachshund and was about the size of a Chipotle burrito the day they brought him home.  He is insanely cute and the whole family is in love with him.
My very busy wife of 25 years just got busier:  Connie accepted a full time position at one of the elementary schools in St. Louis Park, and is enjoying the work a lot.  She has a new story every night about something funny a kid said to her, and the teachers and staff there don’t complain a lick about the tasty goodies she brings in there most every Monday.  Connie’s theory is these poor folks need a treat on Monday more than any other day, and who can argue with that logic?
There has been a lot of highway time for Connie and me in 2015:  our next trip to Iowa will be our 10th since last Christmas.  We lost Connie’s dad Rex, who had battled cancer for 4 years, on Memorial Day.  My folks moved to a smaller place back in October and we were down to help them move.  Throw in a wedding in Iowa City, a football game in Cedar Falls and a trip to Fayette to meet Baby Kyle, the cutest and newest member of our extended family.  I don’t have the first idea how we snuck in a week at Lake Owen, but we did and I have pictures to prove it!
My favorite trip to Iowa was in September:  55 years after their incredible 1960 season, Dad’s college football team received the honor of induction into the UNI Athletic Hall of Fame. The 1960 ISTC Panthers played 9 regular season games and won them all, allowing only 17 points in 6 North Central Conference games and earning the school’s first ever berth in a bowl game.  Dad wore #83 and scored 7 touchdowns for that great team, and we spent the weekend in Cedar Falls helping him celebrate and meeting some of his teammates and their families.  I was very proud to watch him walk onto the UNI-Dome field with some 20 teammates to a thunderous ovation at halftime.
The holidays are a good time to take inventory of all the blessings in your life.  Next August will mark 20 years for us at this address.   It was the 3rd house we looked at, so I guess we picked out a pretty good one.  We’re very comfortable and happy, and have made some mighty good friends over our years in the Twin Cities.  We’re also grateful to be just a short car ride away from all of our family and friends back in Iowa.
Well, that‘s our year on one sheet of paper!  If you’re ever in town, be sure to stop by. Our house is just a few minutes from downtown Minneapolis and we love to have visitors. We hope this letter finds you in good health and good spirits, and we wish you all a happy, safe and very restful holiday.
Warren, Connie, Collin & Adrienne
